Oyu’s Pilgrimage to Ajikan Sacred Places (Complete Version)

Author: tima

Let’s dive into a journey across several Asian Kung-Fu Generation’s music videos’ sights with pictures of the notable places and commentaries.

This is an English translation of a blog post from Oyu, one of the most active people in Asian Kung-Fu Generation Japanese community. In the article, Oyu combined the information from several her posts in which she travelled to some locations from Asian Kung-Fu Generation’s music videos. Let’s dive in and check it out!

Hi everyone, it’s Oyu!It may be sudden but I want to share what I’ve been thinking of related to my posts. Mostly, it’s something like, ‘Aren’t posts heavy when you read them?’, or – more precisely – ‘Aren’t posts with many pictures slow to load?’ Therefore, I often divide big posts into several. However, sometimes I think that it would be easier for some people to read such posts in one. I have written several articles on Ajikan MV tour, but now I’m putting them all in one. Most of the content here is a summary of what was said in the previous articles. The original articles are listed at the end, so you may use them for reference.

Table of contents:

Kimi to Iu Hana

From Keikyuu Tomioka station, go approximately 15 minutes and head to an impressive housing complex.

Jonathan’s there may be a good landmark.

Housing Complex

The impressive housing complex scene.

I think I don’t need to remind you that it’s a place where people live, so don’t forget about your manners and don’t take pictures of the tenants. There’s a little cove called ‘Funadamari’ (anchorage – trans. note) where the band member danced.

Moreover, Gotch gave an interview here for ‘Eizo Sakuhin-shu 2’.

Near Keikyuu Tomioka station (stairs)

I returned to Keikyuu Tomioka station.

If you exit through the west exit from the station, you may see a slope, follow the road there and you’ll see a rather familiar stairs.

These stairs look familiar to those at Kyoto station.

Aru Machi no Gunjou

Naritasan Yokohama Betsuin Temple

A town view from the Aru Machi MV. The Ferris wheel and coffee shops’ advertisements were impressive, but, as expected, they are no more visible now or have disappeared. This realisation of how much time has passed made me sad.

So, it seems this flag is still being used during the Shichi-Go-San (a festival in November to celebrate the 3- and 7-years-old girls and 3- and 5-years-old boys – trans. note)?

Mustang

Komazawa Olympic Park

The scene where everybody stands holding umbrellas. Actually, the proper place is at the foot of the stairs, but this is the only photo I have…

An impressive tower. The photo to promote the joint tour of Acidman, Straightener and The Back Horn was taken here as well.

Solanin

Nippa Bridge

This is the bridge Kiyoshi is walking on. As expected, a lot of things have changed over the years, but I could distinguish it because of the sign. From the Nippa Bridge side I go to Okurayama side. The river sign is gone.

Tsurumi River

It’s THE personal Solanin spot. It looked like there was a marathon going on, so there were a lot of people running and cycling. It seems that Gotch was walking below and above.

Futo Lookout Hill Park

Ken-san was smoking here.

It feels like it was the farthest I was during the trip. It took a bit less than 20 minutes from the Nippa Bridge (Tsurumi river).

I didn’t know where was the right place because the park is huge, but I found it on the eastern side. Buildings looked a bit different then, but 6 houses in a row made me sure of the location.

Here Ken-san was walking. There were a lot of benches, but trees were growing differently. I’m optimistic, so I just decided on ‘roughly here’.

Okurayama Station

The easiest place to recognise. This picture was taken from above of the slope right after exiting the station. Trees are different again, so it didn’t look as the same place where Yama-chan was, but since I’m optimistic I decided on ‘more or less it’s the same’.

Rolling Stone

ONLY

The coffee shop where Gotch ate pasta. Actually, there’s no pasta, but pancakes.

Nishikata Coast Story

Enoshima Yacht Harbour

This is a place in Enoshima where there are many yachts. It’s on the second floor and has a beautiful view.

Demachiyanagi Parallel Universe

Translator’s note: If you’re familiar with Tatami Galaxy (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei) then the mentioned locations are of no surprise for you.

Shimogamo Shrine

A famous place which needs no introduction. If you come down to Tadasu-no-Mori, you can cross through the forest.

This is a bridge where Gotch was sitting. It’s a small bridge next to a road to the shrine, and Gotch was sitting on the other side. It’s dangerous to sit like that, so don’t do it.

Kamo Ohashi Bridge

A bridge of the impressive Daimonji (a big character 大 /dai/ made of fire on a montain as a part of festivities – trans. note). Kiyoshi is leaning on the southern aisle. Cross the bridge and head north towards Demachiyanagi Station.

Kamogawa Park (Delta of Kamo river)

This is a park that you can pass by crossing the bridge from Demachiyanagi Station to the Masugata shopping street side. To be more precise, there is a shot of Kamo Ohashi Bridge from around the other side of the tree.

Stepping Stones

The stepping stones Ken-san was jumping on. There a lot of people jumping, kids and adults alike.

Minamoto-yu (Oasis)

This is a public bath everyone from Demachiyanagi area was eager to go to. I wonder whether it was chosen due to its location next to the bridge over the river? I decided not to go in.

I would like to increase it further.
