Hype after Japan Jam 2024 second line-up announcement

Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Kessoku Band are set to play on the same day. Is there any chance for collaboration?

On 7 February 2024, a music festival Japan Jam announced their second line-up. Interestingly, Kessoku Band joined the festival on the same day as Asian Kung-Fu Generation – 4 May 2024.

Kessoku Band is a fictional band from the popular anime series Bocchi The Rock! (and manga of the same name), where many Ajikan references could be seen, such as the surnames of the members of the fictional band were based on the Ajikan members. Also, the main character Hitori Gotoh covered ‘Korogaru Iwa, Kimi ni Asa ga Furu’ as an ending song for the final episode of the series.

With both bands performing on the same day, it is not surprising that many fans hope to see some collaboration. However, the chance of them collaborating could be less, because Bocchi The Rock! staff announced the band members on vocals will only be Ikumi Hasegawa, and no Yoshino Aoyama (the voice actress of Hitori Gotoh). But, who knows?

Asian Kung-Fu Generation were announced to be performing during the first line-up announcement in January 2024. The last time the band played there was last year when they were the headliners of the festival on 4 May 2023.
