After 3 years, Ajikan were back in Indonesia to celebrate their 30th anniversary with special guests: [Alexandros] and The Adams.
Before the event
Ajikan and the crew arrived at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, Indonesia, at night on 16 April 2026. The next day, Masafumi Gotoh, Kensuke Kita, and Takahiro Yamada visited the local record store, Demajors, while Kiyoshi Ijichi visited Omonyo restaurant to promote their newest collaboration menu titled ‘FIRST NOTE OF SPRING – J.A.M Vol. 2’.

During the event
On Saturday, 18 April 2026, the scorching heat covered the city of Jakarta. Upon arriving at the venue, I could already see fellow fans from the Indonesian fanbase and even from the overseas gathering around. They had prepared flower bouquets, Indonesian football national team jerseys, blangkon (traditional Javanese headgear), and banners as gifts for Ajikan. They also mentioned that Gotoh had been walking around the area carrying a sound recorder to capture the ambient sounds of Jakarta.

As soon as the gates and doors opened, we immediately went inside and got ready for the special VIP soundcheck. Ajikan entered the stage one by one while testing their instruments, starting with Kiyoshi, Yamada, Ken, the two support members George and Achico, and finally Gotoh. They performed three songs: Kimi to Iu Hana, Haruka Kanata, and—unexpectedly—Rashinban! Even though it was just a soundcheck, the fans were incredibly excited.

After the soundcheck, VIP ticket holders remained inside for a group photo session with the band members. After the photo session, Kiyoshi visited the Kiyoshi’s Kitchen stand and served Beef Curry Rice made by him to the fans!

After that, the venue doors reopened, and the local Indonesian band The Adams took the stage right at 6:30 PM. They’re one of my favourite bands, so it was great to know that Ajikan and The Adams are good friends. They performed seven songs and finally performed their version of MAKUAKE live for the first time! The song is a collaboration that was released during Nano-Mugen Fes. 2025. In the final song, Halo Beni, they got everyone to sing ‘beni beni beni‘ together.

[Alexandros] took the stage at 7:45 PM. It was my first time seeing them live, and I was amazed by their stage presence, especially the vocalist, Yoohei Kawakami. He also handled the MC entirely in English. Eleven songs were performed energetically. During the final song, Watadori, the LED screen behind them changed from ‘[Alexandros] live in Jakarta’ to ‘[Alexandros] loves Jakarta’.

After the stage changeover was complete, the moment all the fans had been waiting for finally arrived. The stage lights began to turn on, following the looping drum intro beat of Shinseiki no Love Song. Ajikan members entered the stage one by one, with Gotoh holding the Indonesian national team jersey, which had been given to them by Indonesian fans. The song started with Gotoh rapping, then ended with harmonic vocals by Ken and Achico. The next song was After Dark, a fast-paced song that made everyone excited, followed by Empathy, featuring George’s keyboard melodies.

At that point, I thought the setlist would be the same as the one from Ariake Arena in Japan, but then Yamada stepped forward and played the intro to Soredewa, Mata Ashita. After that, Gotoh switched his guitar to a capo on the 4th fret, then said, ‘Please be yourself and enjoy yourself. Make everyone’s life beautiful in its own way,’ before starting Life is Beautiful. During Solanin, you could hear all the fans singing along to Ken’s guitar intro melody.

Kiyoshi showed his drumming skills in Blue Train. Surprisingly, the next song was Loop & Loop! All the fans could be seen singing together and jumping joyfully. After that, Gotoh introduced all the members and their roles, including Kiyoshi, who was introduced as both the drummer and chef after making curry and omurice at Omonyo. During Okaeri Jonny, the screen showed the music video, immersing the fans in a moment of nostalgia with Ajikan. Later on, Demachiyanagi Parallel Universe outro, Gotoh went up onto Kiyoshi’s drum riser while Ken played a guitar solo and Achico added harmony vocals. Then, Gotoh delivered a message in English expressing his hope for a world without war and enmity, before continuing to Skins. This song is their latest single, featured as the opening theme for Dr. STONE: SCIENCE FUTURE (Part 3), and it also conveys an anti-war message.

Next, Ken became the main attraction as he sang Uso to Wonderland and shouted ‘Jakarta’. After that, Ajikan played four anime soundtrack songs back-to-back: Re:Re:, Blood Circulator, Rewrite, and Kouya wo Aruke, as if they didn’t want the fans to get any rest at all! Gotoh then MC-ed again with the same message as before, but this time in Japanese to express his feelings more clearly. The main set was closed with Nano-Mugen Fes. 2025 theme song, MAKUAKE, which is Gotoh’s favourite song. He went completely wild on stage, leading the fans to sing along with ‘la lalula lalula’. This song was first premiered exclusively on Indonesian radio, so I was really happy to see it performed live.

The chants for an encore echoed throughout the Basket Hall GBK. The Ajikan members returned to the stage, this time with Kiyoshi wearing the Indonesian national team jersey! They performed Korogaru Iwa, Kimi ni Asa ga Furu, with fans singing along emotionally. Then Yamada stepped forward once again to start Ajikan’s anthem, Haruka Kanata. Everyone in the venue sang as loudly as they could. A circle pit could also be seen among the fans. Ajikan ended the concert with full energy, delivering a powerful performance that made up for their failed attempt to perform in Indonesia last year. Terima kasih Ajikan! (tr: Thank you, Ajikan!)
