Second leg of the Tour 2023

Author: tima

Recently, we took a look on the first half of this year’s Asian Kung-Fu Generation national tour. Last week, the second part of it has ended, so let’s once again dive into what it had to offer to the fans!

This tour has started on 22 September to support the release of ‘Surf Bungaku Kamakura (Complete)’ which was released earlier this year. About the first part and zthe reason for three concerts to be postponed we told in October. This time, we’re focusing on the second half of the Asian Kung-fu Generation Tour 2023 ‘Surf Bungaku Kamakura’.

The second leg – the hall tour – included five lives two different prefectures (three cities): Tokyo (Shinjuku and Tachikawa) and Kanagawa (Kamakura).

2 Nov – Tokyo (Nippon Seinen-kan Hall)
3 Nov – Tokyo (Nippon Seinen-kan Hall)
19 Nov – Tokyo (TACHIKAWA STAGE GARDEN)
22 Nov – Kanagawa (Kamakura Performing Arts Centre)
23 Nov – Kanagawa (Kamakura Performing Arts Centre)

Two last concerts in Kamakura were the major performances due to them being held in the city which gave its name to the album the band was promoting. Nice ending of a long surf journey in Kamakura.

Moreover, the last concert was live-streamed with a possibility to watch it from any part of the world (for a fee).

A special project with Enoden

As you may know, ‘Surf Bungaku Kamakura’ and ‘Surf Bungaku Kamakura (Complete)’ are based on the actual railway line called Enoshima Electric Railway (江ノ島電鉄, Enoshima Dentetsu) or simply Enoden. The long story short, every song bears the name of a station of the line, and in the Complete version of the album, the songs match the number of stations and they are lined up with the exact order as for the actual Enoden.

Before the last two concerts of the tour which were held in Kamakura, tehe Enoden hosted a hospitatlity event for the band. On Kugenuma station, posters with photos from all 15 stations promoting the album could be found.

On Hase station, people could leave messages to the band on a special board (and 500 first on both days could get a commemorative sticker).

Later, the board with message cards from fans was presented to the band.

On Enoshima, Fujisawa and Kamakura stations, video clips on Enoshima Escar and Nishikata Coast Story were playing (but with no sound). Moreover, on Enoshima station, more posters could be found.

Enoden also shared some interesting things to do on 5 stations for which 5 corresponding tracks were added to the Complete edition – Ishigami, Yanagikouji, Shounankaigankouen (Nishikata), Kamakurakoukoumae (Nissaka), and Wadazuka.
